I find myself fascinated by small objects with big meanings — everyday items that transcend their original purposes and become symbols with deeper significance.

During the pandemic, I drew an ‘Escape’ key. The ‘Escape’ key represented a universal desire to break free, but also our reliance on and attachment to our devices as a means of connection. These objects become symbols which form a universal visual language that speaks to our shared human experience.

Unintentionally, these drawings carry a sardonic tone, perhaps reflecting the state of the world or my own aging perspective. I've found sarcasm both an enjoyable and necessary tool for navigating life.

'Knight' is the culmination of these feelings: tradition against reality. It’s a reimagination of one of chess's most traditional pieces, needing a bit of an enhancement to survive in the modern world.

A blend of the familiar and the fantastical, the ubiquitous made special.
